Lee Struggles

My current role is Marketing Director. I’ve been involved in the company since it started in 2012 as one of it's founders. I’ve always been interested in social media and creating engaging content. I’ve since progressed to focussing solely on the marketing side of the company. That involves working with sports brands and driving sales, creating engagement on social media and taking brands and increasing the amount of people that engage at them through all of the different social media communities we have built over the years.

Questions

Who inspires you in business?

I like people who think outside the box, young entrepreneurs. I quite like Gary Vaynerchuk he’s pretty cool. He looks at marketing and how to reach and audience with the use of technology. I also quite like Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. The way he’s got an energy about him, he motivates and inspires young players to perform. He’s not really got individuals in his team it’s about all of them working hard towards the same goal which is kind of what we do at CheckdMedia.

What has been the biggest achievement in your career?

Building the company from just a couple of founders. Hiring the first member of staff and watching us grow into a team of around 50 people. I take great pleasure in watching the team grow and seeing people that were hired five or six years ago develop. The company has also been up for quite a few awards and its always nice being recognised within the industry.

What do you do in your spare time?

I’ve got a young daughter so I spend a lot of time with my little girl and the family. I have got a season ticket at Sheffield Wednesday which isn’t a great thing to have right now but I get to Hillsborough as often as possible! I play a lot of sport too, team sports particularly although I do like playing golf and running too. I even did the London Marathon in 2017. I’m also quite musical and enjoy playing the guitar and piano.

Future @ Checkd Media

I think we will continue to grow. Working in lots of different marketing sectors with a range of different brands. We'll be growing the amount of staff we employ and the range of creative things we can do such as video and digital campaigns. We're looking overseas, at creating more new products and challenging the standard way of bringing brands to large audiences.
