Financial Controller

CheckdMedia is looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join the team.

CheckdMedia is a fast-growing social marketing company based in Manchester with 40+ staff. We are now recruiting for a Financial Controller to be based in our offices in Manchester City Centre. The ideal candidate will be ambitious, motivated, proactive, forward thinking & commercial, with the ability to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team.

The Financial Controller will report to the company’s Directors and they will be expected to take full ownership of the finance function of the business. They will be expected to lead the company’s financial accounting, reporting and management activities and ensure activities are carried out efficiently, effectively and in line with relevant laws, legislation and best practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the finance function is organised and efficient
  • Process & reconcile accounting data
  • Manage sales & purchase ledgers
  • Cash flow management & forecasting along with cost control
  • Process supplier and other payments · Credit control
  • Completion of VAT returns
  • Management of the payroll function
  • Prepare annual budgets / forecasts
  • Completion of monthly management accounts in line with the company’s requirements including but not limited to P&L, balance sheet, cash flow forecast along with supporting information and financial narrative
  • To work with the business intelligence side of the business to identify & monitor KPIs that ensure the team are making data led decisions
  • Recommend changes that will improve the company’s financial systems, processes and performance
  • Draft year end accounts to trial balance stage with supporting working papers for external accountants / auditors and manage the process
  • Attendance at board meetings to present & explain financial information
  • An all-rounder that is that is eager to support the Directors and the team with all matters related to finance
  • Ad hoc administrative duties as required to meet the needs of a growing business

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Relevant professional accounting qualification
  • Experience of Xero software
  • Experience in similar roles as a Financial Controller at this level of responsibility
  • Strong data processing & financial reporting skills
  • Ability to draft and deliver management information
  • Excellent analytical & problem solving skills
  • Strategic thinker
  • Well-organised & good team player
  • Strong written, verbal & interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines in a busy office environment
  • Proficient in all areas of IT
  • The utmost confidentiality when handling sensitive information
  • Accountable with high levels of professional integrity
