I began working at CheckdMedia in January 2016 and my role here currently is Website Manager. I am responsible for creating and overseeing the creation of relevant, quality and engaging content for one of our brands websites.
Who inspires you in business?
I like people who are passionate and work as hard as they can to achieve, even if it means bouncing back from adversity. With that in mind I'd have to say that Andy Murray is my biggest inspiration. The fact that he competed in an era of tennis which had three of the best players of all time in Federer, Nadal and Djokovic yet still managed to win Wimbledon twice, two Olympic gold medals and plenty of other titles shows just how dedicated he was and how hard he worked to get right to the very top of his profession. He inspires me to work to those high levels to try and go as far as I can in my own career, albeit in a completely different field.
What has been your biggest achievement in your career?
I would probably have to say it is achieving a 2:1 in Sports Journalism at the University of Huddersfield, and then going on to have a career in that field. However a close second would be the fact that within four months of working on one of our brands websites in 2018 I had helped it achieve over a 100% increase in number of sessions from 9,000 to 92,000.
What do you do in your spare time?
I am a huge Sheffield United fan. I have been a season ticket holder at Bramall Lane since 2002 and go to as many games as I can. I also enjoy watching other sports, particularly tennis, snooker and darts. I have also played field hockey since the age of six and still play now for Chapeltown Hockey Club - I play in midfield.
