Oliver Dickinson

SEO Executive

Role

My journey to the SEO team hasn’t been a straight forward one. After moving here from Cuckoo Design the summer before last, I joined the social media team working on the brand accounts in conjunction with completing my apprenticeship in digital marketing. One thing led to another and I moved over to the SEO team with minimal knowledge of what it encompassed. With guidance from our SEO manager, I’ve now got over a year’s knowledge in SEO. Our department works as a team to ensure that all of our brand websites are optimised effectively so as to ensure that the sites continue to gain more traffic month to month.

Who inspires you in business?

I don’t find that one single individual motivates me more than any other per say. In my personal opinion people that seek to innovate in order to better the lives of others instead of just for capital gain would inspire me most. If I had to choose someone though, I’d say Conor McGregor for the sole fact that he’s managed to make himself into a brand and has almost become the face of the UFC.

What has been your biggest achievement in your career?

Although I am young and ultimately at the beginning of my career, I still feel I’ve achieved many great things. These range from originally being selected from hundreds of candidates by ‘The Juice Academy’ to take part in my apprenticeship to seeing traffic improve across the brands that we work with. I have a strong feeling that in the coming years I’ll achieve many more things with CheckdMedia, so watch this space!

What do you do in your spare time?

A huge part of my life is playing Rugby and I’ve played every weekend over the last 9 years. I started off in the junior teams at Manchester Rugby Club when I was younger and have stayed at the club ever since. I now field for the senior team every Saturday with training Tuesday and Thursday it takes up a huge part of my week but it’s something I really do enjoy. In addition to this, I also enjoy creating websites in my spare time and watching the audience grow. This also means that I’m always learning new things about the web and SEO that I can implement into my role here at CheckdMedia.
